Anglers Cove ("we", "us", or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use the Anglers Cove app and website (the "Service").
Account information: Email address and password (hashed, managed by Supabase Auth). Optionally: username, display name, profile photo, bio, and location city.
Catch logs: Species, measurements, technique, notes, date/time, and an optional text location name. Photos you attach are stored in secure cloud storage.
Location data: Your precise GPS is captured on-device only at the moment of logging a catch, solely to fetch current weather conditions. Your precise coordinates are never stored in our database. When logging a catch, you can opt in to Community Analytics — a per-catch checkbox that is off by default. If enabled, a fuzzed location accurate to approximately 1 km is stored anonymously; your last choice is remembered for the next catch. If you add a location name to a catch, that text is stored as entered.
Fishing spots: If you create spots, their coordinates are stored privately and shared only according to your visibility settings.
Content visibility: Catches, spots, and your profile each have configurable visibility (public, followers only, or private). Public content is visible to anyone; followers-only content is visible only to approved followers; private content is visible only to you. Regardless of visibility setting, your precise GPS coordinates are never shared publicly.
Photos and media: Catch photos are stored in a private, access-controlled bucket. Profile and spot photos are stored in a public bucket.
Push notification token: Stored only if you enable push notifications.
Technical data: Device type, OS version, and crash/error logs collected to operate and improve the Service.
Usage analytics: We may collect anonymous, aggregated data about how the app is used — such as which features are accessed and general performance metrics — to improve the Service. This data is aggregated or minimized wherever reasonably possible and is not intended to directly identify individual users.
Beta signup form: If you join our beta waitlist, we collect your email address, iPhone model, iOS version, how often you fish, and any optional feedback you provide. This information is used solely to manage and prioritize beta invitations and is never sold or shared with third parties.
We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with the following service providers necessary to operate the Service:
By using the Service, you understand that your information may be transferred to and processed in countries outside your own, including the United States, where our infrastructure providers operate.
Your data is retained as long as your account is active. You can permanently delete your account at any time from Settings → Danger Zone → Delete Account. When deleted, your profile, catches, photos, and associated data are immediately removed from active storage and scheduled for permanent deletion. Residual data may persist temporarily in secure backups for disaster recovery purposes and will be purged consistent with our infrastructure provider's retention schedule.

Anglers Cove is free to use. To keep it that way, we show ads. We believe in being upfront about this — ads have been part of the model from day one, not something introduced later.
What we will never do: We will never lock your catch history, your spots, your analytics, or any data you have created behind a paywall. Your data is yours regardless of whether you ever pay us anything.
How ads are placed: Ads appear in feed and community areas of the app at a reasonable cadence. We do not show ads inside the catch logging flow or in any context where an interruption would be disruptive. We do not start any screen with an ad.
Ad network: We use Google AdMob (Google LLC) to serve ads. AdMob uses your device's advertising identifier (IDFA on iOS, GAID on Android) and IP address to serve relevant ads and measure performance. This data is governed by Google's Privacy Policy. You can opt out of personalized ads at any time in your device settings — on iOS under Settings → Privacy & Security → Apple Advertising, and on Android under Settings → Google → Ads.
Ad labeling: Every ad in Anglers Cove is clearly marked as an advertisement. We think you should always know when something is paid content, so we make no attempt to disguise ads as organic posts or app content.
Optional subscription: We may offer an optional subscription in the future for users who want to support the app and remove ads. This subscription will never be the gate between you and your own data — it is purely a way to support continued development if you choose to.
The Service is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us immediately at privacy@anglerscove.app.
We implement industry-standard security measures including row-level security on our database, private storage buckets for sensitive media, and encrypted data transmission (TLS). However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the updated policy in the app and updating the "Last Updated" date above. Continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
